Hello, everyone. I know a lot of you are... busy getting ready for the draft and all, but- I was just curious.

[ There's worry in Serah's eyes, even if she isn't one of the names listed as being required to leave for battle... and even though she manages to just barely keep the full extent of her discomfort hidden, she also very nearly aborts the message then and there. In comparison to what so many people are having to worry about right now, this is just so silly...

Regardless, there comes a point where not even Serah's formidable drive to keep from inconveniencing people isn't strong enough to go against the sheer strength of her loneliness. Set on making this as un-awkward as possible, she takes a breath and pushes on. ]

You see, Fang's gone home, I guess, so ... is anyone looking for a roommate? I have a dog, if that matters, but otherwise... [ Again she makes a blank sort of look before quickly adding in a stronger smile- a bit forced given the situation all around, but a sincere attempt to ease the tension. ] Well, anyway, tell me if you're interested.

You could always come live with me and Caius if you want. We've got a big house with plenty of room, and we don't mind animals at all. Um, as long as our animals don't mind yours, that is.

[ ... Way to go Serah, that wasn't polite-- or dignified, in any way at all. The way she rapidly shakes her head in reaction to her own response is actually audible, thanks to the little beads she has tied up in her hair at the moment.

It's just. Knee-jerk reaction- did he say Caius? ]

Caius. Do you know him?

[He... hasn't quite picked up on the fact that that was a negative reaction just yet. He just thinks she's surprised to find out that someone she knows is here!]

Ah. [ She half clears her throat, half laughs awkwardly. ] No, I don't think so.

[ Thankfully, once the first second or so of being startled wears off, PULL IT TOGETHER-ing becomes a lot easier-- for the most part. She figures it's just someone with the same name, but... ]

He's a little loud sometimes, but he's really a nice person. I'm sure he'd be happy to have someone else around the house too.

[Hopefully that's enough of a tip-off that this isn't in fact the same Caius she's thinking of.]

[ Yeah, the Caius she's familiar with is... well, from what she does know of him so far, she can't really see him... being happy about much. Or being nice in general. He's kind of ridiculously intimidating in his seriousness, really. ]

Ah. Sorry. It's just... I knew someone else with that name, back home.

[ AND HE IS KIND OF A DOUCHEBAG. ]

Oh... I'm guessing he wasn't like this Caius at all, huh?

[Whoops. WAY TO GO, EMIL. He understands, though, because he's run into name confusion issues before on many occasions over his time here. 'Caius' definitely isn't one he would've pegged as a common name, though.

... then again, that's probably why she seemed so surprised.]

Not really. [ Finally her tone turns a bit more amused as she admits it, in that sort of 'this is an immense understatement' kind of way. ] He's not really... the kind of person you'd want to live with, I think.

[ Even if Noel apparently would disagree. Somehow. ]

Yeah, that's definitely a different person. This Caius is really nice, even if he is a little messy with his stuff.

[ For some reason, she pauses, but then just kind of laughs. Talk about a weird knee-jerk misunderstanding to begin with, but now she's reminded of something else too. ]

[Well, that's a bit confusing for Emil, but he's pretty sure it's not a bad sign, at least.]

... huh? What's so funny?

You're welcome to crash at my place. Of course, I've just got the one bed. But we can share.

[ And just like that Serah switches right from politely neutral at worst to just short of furious shouting instead. She remembers that voice all too well- especially given the words being said with it. ]

You're way too wound up. It's a joke, kiddo. I mean, sure, I wouldn't be against the idea. But even your sis handled it better than that and I'm pretty sure she was constantly on the verge of wanting to kill me.

Well, you know, jokes are supposed to be funny.

[ Some retort, but oh well. Needless to say, the sisterly protectiveness actually goes both ways... and, with her wrecked mood still very much intact, Serah can't really find it in herself at the moment to be surprised at that last part there. ]

Maybe I'm just hitting up the wrong audience.

[ Seems that way. Hopefully he likes a dish full of sullen silence for the time being, rather than anything as helpful as another verbal response. ]

The whole silent thing. I take it that's a family trait, huh?

Yeah... sure.

[ It's meant to be hard, but even without the way Serah usually acts to frame it, it's probably obvious that the attitude just doesn't come as easily to her as it does the older Farron sister. ]

You shouldn't have answered. It would've been funnier if you stayed silent.

[ Have it your way, Jack- she won't be replying again, that's for sure. ]

[It was not hard to notice Serah's anxiety in the video, who legitimately appeared distraught from the departure of Fang.

Ai could relate; even if she had already met and talked with plenty of people here, the loss of any contact with her friends and family back home was painfully tangible. The girl couldn't help but feel lonely at times herself, so she could only sympathize.]

...Who is Fang?

[ ... Well then. Serah probably should have expected someone would think to ask, even if explaining isn't exactly the easiest thing to do right now- not just because this is in the wake of Fang disappearing, but... ]

She's someone I knew- from back home.

[ Kind of knew, that is, considering... before Luceti, she and Fang had never actually met in person or even talked directly to each other. ]

[There would be a sense of relief seeing somebody she knew return back home, for their sake, but a part of her would, of course, miss their presence here.]

...At least she has returned back to where she belongs.

[An effort to console her. More and more often, Ai began to see people - actual friends or acquaintances - transported here together from a world that was one and the same. It was a curious thing; one she would've thought would be a much rarer occurrence.]

Is there nobody else from your world here in Luceti that you know?

Mm...

[ "Where she belongs" is right - there's a world literally hanging in the balance, after all - but it's not as helpful a thought as Serah wishes it would be.

She shakes her head slightly, tamping down the disappointed expression. ]

Not that I know of... seems I'm the only one left, now.

I am sorry for that.

[She could tell that the girl wouldn't have minded if they stayed even if it heading back to their world would be the right, desireable thing in hindsight.]

Maybe it will not be long until you are brought back as well.

[As random the chance of people getting here and being brought back seemed, there were always noticeable tendencies like that - the three ponies from Equestria, for instance, who also happened to be best friends.]

Maybe.

[ Serah's not really sure where the other girl is going with this though, taking a moment to tuck her hair back behind her ears as she looks away in thought. To be honest, she really, really, really wants out of this place soon. ]
